UPDATE: The end of the ghost's robe was bugging me so I thought I'd blend it in better.
It was about time I made a Christmas-themed picture!
I was looking at this picture:The Spirit of Christmas Past and thought I could do a better version since I've improved so much this year.
Not only did I think if remaking the picture, but I also thought a redesign was in order, so I did some research on the character's description, as I like staying true to the source material. The Spirit of Christmas past is described as bearing the appearance of one whose age is indefinable, and pretty much androgynous. I aired a little more on the side of girl in appearance cause I thought that would be cute. So I guess she's as much of a girl as NiGHTS is?
It was also described as bearing the resemblance of a candle flame holding a cap that looks like a candle flame extinguisher. A lot of interpretations I've seen look like the wax part of the candle at some points, and I thought that would just take away from the mysterious quality. The past is mysterious, and I think the ghost of it should look as such. I wanted this to look as much like a flame as I could. The eyes are blue because I even wanted to incorporate the bottom of the flame that has this blue-ish color.
Another detail that I thought was pretty neat was that it's/her limbs and parts of her body could become visible or invisible when necessary. Since her left hand wasn't doing much here, I just had it disappear.
All in all, I'm completely pleased with this, and I don't think I've made a picture this good since that one of Blaze.(Blaze. Heh. I'm good at fire I guess. XD)
